Saturday-Opening Ceremony and Field Sports
TIME: 2.00pm LOCATION: The Green near the roundabout, Marquee open from 11.00am, sponsored by Wessex Marine.
This year the ceremonial opening of Carnival Week will be conducted by HM Lord Lieutenant, Susie Sheldon.
The 4-mile fun run around the River Yar will be leaving from the green at 2.00pm. Registration opens at 1.15pm in the marquee, from where you will be able to pick up an entry form or download below.

Field sports will begin as soon as the runners are off . The usual races for toddlers to adults. Bring a picnic and enjoy the fun. Cakes and Tea courtesy of the RLNI
DURING THE DAY-Classic cars on the Green from 11.00am
Sunday-River Sports
Come along with your dinghy and enter this popular event. There is no specific theme this year so anything goes. From 4.00pm, location River Yar just off The Green Awards for groups and individuals.
Please bring your own paddleboard, dinghy or kayak,
come and join in the fun. (Some boats maybe available)

TREASURE HUNT TIME: 11.00am LOCATION: On The Green
Collect your clues for both adults and children. The hunt will start at 11.00am. Once you have finished return to the marquee with your answers. A big thank you to David Hutchison for putting this hunt together – enjoy it
CRABBING ON THE RIVER YAR TIME: 3.30pm – 4.30pm
Bring your own crab line and bucket. There will be bait available but you may wish to bring your own secret recipe. Caught crabs will then be taken to the Marquee for the official weigh in. All children must wear buoyancy aids.

Following the success of this event last year, we are once again running
this competition. No experience necessary – as there will be a professional
on hand to give advice. Entry £1 for under 16 years and £5 for adults.
FISHING COMPETITION TIME: 6.00pm – 8.00pm LOCATION: The Pier

Kevin Shaw will once again enthral us with one of his historical talks – ‘The Latter Days of King Charles 1’ Join us at the Yacht Club,
enjoy the view, a coffee and listen to the talk.

SANDCASTLE COMPETITION TIME: 11.00am LOCATION: Sandhard Beach.

TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC TIME: 3.00pm LOCATION: Garden of The Deacons, High Street (the garden with the sheep!) If the weather is inclement, this will take place in the Marquee. Bring your favourite teddy bear, picnic or treat, dance and listen to A J Entertainers (who proved such a success last year).
